Software: MS Office 2007, Outlook Express and Windows XP
Problem: Following installation of MS Office 2007, Outlook Express does not have an English dictionary available for spell check. Only French dictionary is available. Way to go Microsoft!
Resolution: There are two ways to resolve this problem:
1. If you have Office 2003 CD, run a custom install, select Proofing tool and select English dictionary.
2. If you don't have Office 2003, download and install a separate spell checking program designed especially for Outlook Express. It's FREE and it can be downloaded here.
Software: Install shield and Windows XP
Problem: When trying to install new software you get an installation error: an error (-5009 or an error -5009
Resolution: Suprisingly simple - make sure the installation program is NOT running, then locate and rename the following directory: C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield to anything you want. Run install program again and voila! it works.
Software: Windows XP OS
Problem: No Internet access. You can send but not receive packets of data. Wired or wireless internet cannot connect. Hijackthis comes up with nothing. Netsh is not successful in reseting Winsock. LSPFix reports no problems.
Resolution: Reinstalling the TCP/IP protocol in the following manner was the ONLY way I could resolve this problem (a day later using trial and error). Here are the steps:
1. right click on Network connections
2. click Properties
3. click Install
4. click Add
5. Click Have Disk
6. Navigate to C:\windows\inf - if you can't see it, then you must make hidden files visible through Windows Explorer before going to this step
7. and select NETTCPIP.INF
Software: Windows XP OS
Problem: No Internet access following malware/spyware attack.
Resolution:LSP-Fix is a free Windows utility to repair a loss of Internet access. Repairs Winsock 2 settings. Just unzip and run the following file: LSPFIX.ZIP
Software: Adobe Photoshop CS2
Problem: Windows Explorer does not display tumbnail preview of PSD files.
Resolution: Easy fix. Download the following file PSDFIX.ZIP and read the "readme.txt" inside the zip file. Requires registry modification and dll installation. Not for novice users.
Software: Windows XP OS and Adobe Acrobat

Resolution: Uninstall ActiveSync; Regedit -> search and delete all entires of "activesync" in the registry; Reinstall ActiveSync.
Software: Windows XP OS & Adobe Premier 1.5 & 2.0
Problem: When starting Adobe Premier you get a blue screen of death with the possible following errors: STOP 0x000000C5 ... 0x8054AFD2; DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL; SYMTDI.SYS error 0xEE37362f; NO_MORE_IPR_STACK_LOCATIONS; STOP: 0x000000C5 ... 0x8054A10D; BAD_POOL_CALLER STOP 0x000000C2 ... 0x859CC338; STOP 0x00000024 ... 0x804EF58D - all these errors were related to the same problem - an incompatible sound card driver!
Resolution: What a nightmare this was!!!! Weeks of research and trial and error installations/uninstallations of drivers and software until I found out that the early releases of Realtek High Definition Audio drivers are incompatible with Adobe Premier products; and the Windows XP operating system's ability to release control of the driver.
It seems that the Blue screen of death appears because of the Realtek High Definition Audio integrated sound card.
In this case you have to update the Realtek device driver.
Please download version R1.47 (or later) of the Realtek device driver from here: http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver-Download-18649.html Install the new driver, reboot, and you will be on your way to be a happy video editor. All joking aside, this one deserves a donation!
Software: Windows XP OS & IE
Problem: When selecting IE from the Quick Launch toolbar for the first time, IE opens, but while IE is open, clicking on the IE icon again does not open another IE window, but rather reloads the home page into the currently open IE window.
Resolution: While IE is open, you can press CTRL+N to open a new IE window. This works, but the correct way to resolve the problem is to go to Tools->Internet Options->Advanced and uncheck "REUSE WINDOWS FOR LAUNCHING SHORTCUTS". Restart IE and try opening a second IE window. All should be fixed.
Software: Photoshop CS2
Problem: Web Photo Gallery does not work. Error message: “There is an error disabling controls for missing tokens. Some file or folder for selected style might be missing.”

3. Click the START button, select RUN, and type REGEDIT. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{D27CDB70-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}, once you find it, right click on it and select PERMISSIONS, and give full permissions to EVERYONE.

Software: Internet Explorer (IE 6.0) & Windows XP OS

Here is a link to the source website of the file above: http://www.pchell.com/support/cannotviewsecurewebsites.shtml
Alternatively you can try reinstalling IE by typing the following line into the RUN window:
rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 C:\windows\inf\ie.inf (You might have to browse for explorer.ex_ on your installation CD or HDD)
...and you can also scan Windows files for the right versions from the RUN window:

Software: Registry & Windows XP OS
Problem: Almost all windows services are disabled
Resolution: Following a virus attack, Windows XP continues to work, but you cannot get on the Internet. Right click on MyComputer, select Manage->and select Serices and Applications -> SERVICES, you realize that almost all services are disabled and you cannot restart any of them. It's a nightmare but there is an easier solution than reinstalling Windows. Start REGEDIT and locate the following folder in your registry: HKLM->System->ControlSet001->Services and go through every folder locating the START key in the right window pane. Change all START values of "4" to 2. 4 does not exist!!! NOTE: 0 is BOOT, 1 is SYSTEM, 2 is Automatic, 3 is Manual. This is painfully long but still easy enough to do. When done, restart Windows and you'll be up and running as usual.
Software: Windows Genuine Advantage & Windows XP OS
Problem: Uninstalling Windows Genuine Advantage because of its annoying notifications.
Resolution: So you ran automatic Windows Update and now you're receiving messages from Windows saying your copy of Windows is not genuine. Here is how to get rid of this nuisance:
Go to c:\windows\system32 and rename "WgaLogon.dll" to "WgaLogon.old", "WgaTray.exe" to "WgaTray.old", "LegitCheckControl.dll" to "legiCheckControl.old", and "GwfSpIDGen.dll to GwfSpIDGen.old". If you cannot rename some of the files above, launch Windows Task Manager (press CTRL+ALT+DEL", and locate WgaTray.exe process and END IT. For DLL files, you may have to unregister them first before you can rename them. To do this, click the START button, then RUN, and type "REGSVR32 <nameoftheDLLfile>.dll /u" (without the quotes).
Now run REGEDIT and navigate to HKLM\software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Notify and delete the FOLDER called "WgaLogon". Reboot Windows and you should be free of annoying warnings.
Now start Internet Explorer, go to TOOLS->Manage Add-ons->ALL->and disable Windows Genuine Advantage
To disable future updates of WGA, you should disable automatic updates and only ask windows to notify you when updates are available. When a notification of an available update appears in the task bar (yellow triangle with an exclamation mark), click on it and deselect WGA Update, click OK, and put a check mark next to "Don't notify me again about this update". Reboot and set Windows update to Automatically Download and Install the updates for you.

"acronis" and "true image" and delete all keys. Reboot,
reinstall Acronis True Image into a different directory (ex. acronis

I am unsure why this happens, but the above solution works.

Flush the ARP cache by using netsh interface ip delete
